Malacanang: Gov't Work and Classes in all levels in NCR suspended, August 2, 2011






Malacanang has ordered Tuesday the suspension of classes in all levels in the National Capital Region as heavy rains continue to pound the metro.
Government work in NCR have also been ordered canceled, Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa was quoted as saying in the Malacanang's official Twitter account.

"Upon recommendation of NDRRMC, the ES [Executive Secretary] has declared suspension of college classes & gov work in NCR effective 1pm," Palace said in its tweet.

Earlier, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced that classes from pre-school to high school levels in the National Capital Region are suspended due to insistent heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon.

DepEd also confirmed that classes have been called off in Calamba City, Rodriguez Rizal and Rosario Cavite.

In their respective Twitter accounts, several universities have also earlier announced the suspension of classes.

In its account, Ateneo de Manila University said classes in the Loyola Schools - college and graduate - are already suspended as of 12 noon.

Classes are also canceled in all levels and campuses of the De La Salle University starting 11:20am. Offices will also be closed.

For the University of the Philippines Manila, Chancellor Ramon Arcadio has announced that classes and office work are also suspended.

In UE Manila and UE Caloocan, classes from 12 noon onwards are already canceled, said President Ester Garcia.

FEU FERN College has also suspended classes in all levels "due to the situation of Ipo Dam," according to their Twitter account.

Classes in UST, St Paul, San Sebastian are also suspended, according to Pagasa.
