2011 Course Highlights

The Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon presented by Nissan will debut exciting upgrades and improvements to the course in 2011. The goal is for each participant to have the best running experience possible. So what’s new this year?
More dancing room
In the past, Belmont Boulevard has been an out and back section of the course for both the marathon and half-marathon courses. As the years went on, the growth in participation created quite a crowd on this street.  Fear no more! You can now dance to the live music with plenty of wiggle room! All marathon and half-marathoners will run south on Belmont Boulevard and return north towards Music Row on Granny White Pike.
Eclectic Neighborhoods

This year, experience the up-and-coming neighborhood referred to as 12South on 12th Avenue South around mile 7.  From great shopping to stand out restaurants this charming neighborhood has it all and are excited to welcome runner’s race morning!
Stick Together
This year, the half-marathoners will stick with the marathoners for a few more blocks before splitting up. Last year, the half-marathon separated from the full marathon at Harrison Street on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard  Keep an eye out at 10th Circle and Gay Street, Mile 11.05, where the split point officially begins. Marathoners will move to the left and the half-marathoners to the right.  Half-marathoners, be sure to wish the marathoners good luck as you turn right onto Jackson Street and head towards the finish line!
Turn up the Volume
Spectators will be showing participants love every step of the way. The once sparsely populated section of the course through Metro Center (Miles 14 through 17) has been eliminated. The distance is made up later in the course through East Nashville neighborhoods where you can go back in time while running through this historic area.
Trendy Sights
Marathoners will take a tour through the low-key vibe neighborhood of Historic East Nashville.  This district is bordered by Shelby Street and Woodland Street to the north and south, and 14th Street and 5th Street to the east and west. These houses feature diverse architecture from Victorian style to Bungalow style homes. Around Mile 18, take notice of the up-and-coming 5 Points Shopping District. This area is known for its colorful variety of shops, restaurants, bars and businesses. Enjoy the window shopping!
