Flood watches, warnings for central, eastern NY

From AP - ALBANY, N.Y. – Flood watches or warnings are in place for much of central and eastern New York after a new round of storms moved through the region, dumping more rain on already-swollen waterways.

The National Weather Service says the rain that started Tuesday was heaviest west and north of the Catskills into the southern Adirondacks, with as much as 3 inches in some places by Wednesday morning.

Forecasters say the rain will taper off during the afternoon.

There are flood warnings for the upper Hudson River and its tributaries, the Susquehanna, the Lake Champlain shoreline and Onondaga Lake at Liverpool.

Local authorities banned boating on the Oneida and Seneca rivers and Oneida Lake because of high water.
Many of the weather service notices are in place until Wednesday evening, but some are open-ended.
