May 25, 2011 Update on Typhoon Chedeng ( Songda )






The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised public storm signal No.2 over Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte and the Samar Provinces on Wednesday.

Signal No. 1 was raised in Marinduque, Masbate, Burias Island, Ticao Island, Southern Quezon, Polillo Island and Biliran Island.

Chedeng has maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) and moving 9 kph west northwest, as of PAGASA’s 11 a.m. update
Update: as of 4:00 p.m. today, Typhoon "CHEDENG" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 310 km East Catarman, Northern Samar (12.8°N, 127.7°E) with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 160 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 kph.
