Typhoon Falcon leaves RP 15 missing, more than 60, 000 families affected






Fifteen people, including 2 children, have been reported missing due to tropical storm "Falcon". According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the missing persons were identified as:
· Fedelito Muana, Jr., 14, Olongapo City
· Rosa Belga Ordan, 54, Ligao City
· Antonio Avila Bailon, 40, Catanduanes
· Jason Balingit, 16, Catanduanes
· Pedro Balingit, 37, Catanduanes
· Nestor Tapit Mandasoc, 53, Catanduanes
· Jonsy Rodriguez, Catanduanes
· Denver Sta. Ines, 2, Catanduanes
· Paquito Tabios, 40, Catanduanes
· Joselito de los Santos, 39, Camarines Norte
· Rolando Sarmiento Tabios, 30, Catanduanes
· Joey Mendoza, 20, Camarines Norte
· Jenan Mendoza, 18, Camarines Norte
· Vicente Rodriguez Tapit, 40, Catanduanes
· Angelica S. Recome, 3, Rizal

NDRRMC said over 69,000 families have been affected by Falcon in the National Capitol Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and the Bicol region. A landslide was also reported in Brgy. Sta. Rita and Brgy. Kalaklan, Olongapo City on Thursday, affecting 3 families.

So far, the total damage to infrastructure and agriculture is estimated to cost P1.9 million. NDRRMC Executive Director Benito Ramos said the country is better prepared this time compared to September 2009, when tropical storm "Ondoy" hit.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police has activated its National Disaster Operations Center.
