Trans-Asia ship sinks off Negros (With Video)

All passengers and crew members of the passenger-cargo vessel “MV Trans-Asia” which capsized early Sunday morning in the vicinity of Vidad Bay off Calabasa Island, Ajuy, Iloilo have been rescued, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.

The 107 passengers and 35 crew members of the said vessel were safe and transferred to other ships and boats after the ship captain issued an abandon-ship order at 6 a.m. before the vessel sank (at around 8:50 a.m).

The Philippine Coast Guard is still investigating the reason behind the sinking.

The PCG spokesperson said they have not yet received an official report from their Coast Guard personnel in Ajuy on the complete details of what really happened on MV Trans-Asia.

Reports said the 2,345.75-gross-ton MV Trans-Asia left Pier 4 in Cebu City at about 6:00 p.m. on Saturday on its way to Iloilo City when the disaster happened.
