The Department of Education (DepEd) announced class suspension in selected schools in Manila during the Feast of Black Nazarene on January 9, 2012.

DepEd suspends classes in Apolinario Mabini Elementary School, Geronimo Santiago Elementary School and Ramon Avanceña High School. These schools are located along the route of the procession of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.

The suspension was to ensure the safety of pupils and students.
