Firecrackers Injuries in the Philippines for 2011






Here is a report regarding firecracker injuries in the Philippines (2011) as tweeted by Department of Health spokesman Dr. Eric Tayag:

Top 5 injury-causing fireworks were Piccolo (150 or 33%), Kwitis (74 or 16%), Fountain (31or7%), Five star (24 or 5%) and Luces (24 or 5%)

Males were mostly affected (364 or 80%) while the age group 1-10 years (177 or 37%) and 11-20 years (129 or 27%) were most affected

The most number of injuries came from NCR (298 or 66%), region IV-A (29 or 6%) and region I (28 or 6%)

Total injuries 476 or 13% lower than 2010, Fireworks related – 454, Stray bullet – 18, Fireworks ingestion – 4
