NCR Government Offices works "Suspended"






Malacanang has ordered the suspension of work in government offices in the entire National Capital Region due to the heavy downpour brought about by tropical storm "Falcon."
In its official Twitter account, Palace said Executive Secretary Jojo Ochoa has suspended government work effective 1:00 pm Friday.

However, "essential health, emergency workers [will] remain on duty," the advisory added.

Classes in preschool to high school levels were also earlier suspended in Metro Manila and some provinces.

The Department of Education-National Capital Region announced late Thursday the suspension of classes Friday, 24 June 2011, in all preschool, elementary and high school levels in Metro Manila.

The agency also noted that classes were suspended in region IV-A, specifically Cainta, Angono, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Rizal and Rosario Cavite -- due to flooding.

Classes were also suspended from prep to high school levels in Bataan, Zambales and Pangasinan.

In Albay, classes in all levels in the province were suspended.

In its 12:00 pm update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 'Falcon' continues to move north, northwest, its center estimated at 330 kilomters east of Basco, Batanes.

The bulletin noted that typhoon Falcon is expected to be 500 km northeast of Basco, Batanes by Saturday and will be 1,030 km north northeast of Batanes by Sunday morning.

The Calayan, Babuyan Group of Islands and Batanes Group of Islands are now under storm signal number 1.

At least 30 international flights and 26 domestic flights were canceled since Thursday due to bad weather.

The estimated cost of damages to agriculture and infrastructure in Zambales alone is at P1,923,461.20, NDRMMC added.

As of 11:50 am, Pagasa said in its Twitter account that IPO Dam Level is "still rising and is now at 101.20 meters."

Three gates are open and are releasing 429 cubic meter per seconds of water, the agency said.
